Governance tokens are often valued on expectations rather than the influence they actually provide. Compound operates in a lending market where capital efficiency, borrower demand, collateral quality, and risk management determine protocol usefulness. For COMP, governance relevance is an important part of the equation, but it is not the whole equation. Stronger lending activity matters most when the token’s economic value captures some benefit from that activity.
