If Chinese manufacturers improve memory technology and expand supply, pricing power could eventually weaken.
For an industry this cyclical, even a small change in supply expectations can significantly affect earnings forecasts.
I am watching three things: memory pricing, actual AI infrastructure spending and whether earnings growth can justify current valuations.
A falling stock price does not automatically mean the AI memory thesis is broken.
Here is where the distinction matters:
AI infrastructure requires enormous amounts of memory, particularly high bandwidth memory used in advanced AI accelerators.
That demand can remain strong while chip stocks fall if valuations have already priced in years of growth, or if investors begin questioning how profitably that infrastructure will be financed.
Competition adds another layer.
