$BTC $ETH $IRYS

Gold at $4035, have you cut your losses? From 5400 down to 4035, with a floating loss of 25%, are you already thinking about hitting "market close"? But just now, a long lower shadow formed at the 4000 level, and ETF holdings remain unchanged—Is this the final drop, or is the bear market just beginning? You open Binance perpetual contracts, XAU is stuck at 4035. The group chat is full of complaints: "Gold as a safe haven is a scam," "3800 next," "The bull market is over." Your finger hovers over the close position button, hesitating for three seconds. Don’t rush. The 4000 level isn’t something to break casually. Today, I’ll thoroughly analyze this wave of gold’s decline; after reading, you can decide whether to cut losses. First: Oil prices + Federal Reserve are grinding gold down Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia pushed oil prices to a 5-month high. Inflation concerns have resurfaced, and the market is pricing in a "higher for longer" interest rate path. The Fed raised rates to 3.75%-4.00% in September; the October 27-28 meeting will likely hold steady, but a December hike is nearly consensus. Initial jobless claims in the US dropped to 194,000, showing a strong labor market, giving the Fed confidence to stay hawkish. In plain terms: Gold yields no interest. The higher the rates, the greater the opportunity cost of holding gold. The dollar earns interest while gold just watches. Gold isn’t failing as a safe haven; it just can’t compete with dollar interest right now. Gold prices fell 3.5% this week, on track for the worst weekly performance in months. On Thursday, it broke the key support at 4074 in a single day, crashing to the doorstep of 4000. This doesn’t mean gold suddenly lost value; it’s the real interest rate knife pressing on gold’s neck. Second: 4000 is a psychological barrier and a lifeline for bulls and bears The daily main trend is down, prices are below all major moving averages, and the bearish structure remains intact. But today there’s a detail: the low hit 3986-3987, forming a long lower shadow. This shows buying support near 4000—it’s not fragile. RSI is about 35, close to oversold, indicating short-term rebound demand. But note—oversold can get more oversold. Key is the weekly chart: If the weekly close breaks below 4000 → deeper retracement opens, next stops at 3960, then 3940-3890. If 4000 holds and recovers above 4070 → pressure may ease. Third: Next week’s Fed meeting is the real referee The October meeting will likely be unchanged, but the market’s real fear is a December hike. If the Fed signals or confirms a December move, gold will likely remain under pressure. Conversely, if there’s an unexpected dovish signal or data weakens suddenly, gold could rebound from oversold conditions. Bull vs. bear showdown, you decide On one side: Long lower shadow at 4000, RSI 35 oversold, short-term rebound demand Central bank gold purchases and safe-haven attributes remain long-term ETF holdings relatively stable, no panic selling Geopolitical risks (oil prices) could escalate anytime On the other side: High real interest rates, strong dollar, high opportunity cost for gold December hike expectations nearly consensus, hawkish pressure Daily bearish structure intact, moving averages pressing down If weekly closes below 4000, downside space opens Key levels Resistance above: 4060-4090 → 4110 → 4140 (recent rebound start) → 4220 (moving average zone) Support below: 4000 (psychological barrier) → 3980-3960 → 3940-3890 (demand zone) Trading strategy Main short idea: Short lightly on rebounds at 4060-4090 (volume insufficient, daily resistance confirmed). Targets 4000 → 3960, stop loss on effective break above 4110-4120. Defensive long (short-term play): If clear stop-loss signals appear near 4000 (long lower shadow confirmed + volume support), try small long positions. Targets 4050-4070, strict stop loss below 3970. Only for short-term, no romance. Event-driven: If next week’s Fed meeting is hawkish → gold remains under pressure; if dovish surprise or data weakens → may trigger rebound. Gold now is like Nasdaq in 2022— Everyone said "rate hike cycle, risk assets are doomed." What happened? When expectations are maxed out, it’s often the eve of a turning point. The gold bull market isn’t dead, but your position might be first. $BTC $ETH $XAU
