đš 42M+ $ETH IS STAKED â BUT IS THAT PURELY BULLISH?
More than 42M ETH, nearly 35% of supply, is now locked in staking.
The common view is simple: less liquid ETH = less selling pressure.
But EIP-8361 could change the picture.
The proposal would gradually reduce validator issuance as staking participation rises, potentially reaching zero new issuance if staking hits 50% of supply.
That creates an interesting dilemma:
More staking â lower rewards â weaker staking incentives.
And if ETHâs base staking yield falls significantly, liquid-staking and DeFi ecosystems could also feel the impact.
For now, I think the chances of the proposal being implemented exactly as proposed are relatively low.
But its existence raises an important question:
