With expectations running high, even a respectable earnings beat could disappoint if forward guidance falls short.
AMD's results also carry broader implications for semiconductor sentiment ahead of Nvidia's earnings later in November. A strong outlook could help restore confidence across the sector, while another guidance disappointment could put further pressure on an already weakened trade.
My take: AMD doesn't necessarily need another earnings beat to move higher.
