Progress toward an agreement could unwind part of the geopolitical risk premium in oil, while a breakdown in negotiations could quickly revive supply fears and push energy prices higher.
My take: The market is trading the possibility of peace, not yet the reality of secure shipping. Until commercial traffic through Hormuz normalizes, any oil price relief remains vulnerable to the next geopolitical headline.

Renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia only add to the uncertainty.
The bigger issue is that reopening Hormuz requires more than political statements. Iran and the US must resolve their competing demands, while shipping companies need confidence that vessels can pass safely without facing attacks, restrictions or prohibitive insurance costs.
For traders, this creates two competing forces.
