Doing the calculation while the inputs stay encrypted is the interesting part.
@FungoLabs builds with Zama Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). Here is the principle in a small example:
- Encrypt 7 and 5.
- Add the encrypted values.
- Keep the result encrypted.
- Let an authorized party decrypt the result: 12.
The computation does not need to read the plaintext inputs. Opening the result is a separate, permissioned action.
For NFTs, this creates room for mechanics that use hidden information while keeping it private. The application still has to define who gets access and what may be disclosed.
That is the connection worth understanding. Encrypted data can remain useful.

That is an easy detail to miss in @FungoLabs Genesis.
The holder can privately view both layers:
LOOK - the artwork and its visible traits. Keep it sealed or publish it. Publishing is permanent.
ESSENCE - class, four stats and element. Privately viewable by the holder, with no public on-chain reveal function.
Viewing privately and publishing publicly have different consequences.
That makes interface design part of the privacy experience. A private viewing action and a permanent publication action should be unmistakable.
One boundary matters. A holder can still share information they have already viewed. Encryption does not stop that disclosure.
View privately. Publish deliberately.
An NFT can prove ownership without revealing everything inside it.
That is the idea behind @FungoLabs. publicly visible ownership, with encrypted content on Ethereum, built using Zama's FHE technology.
The distinction matters:
- The public can verify which wallet holds the NFT.
- The holder can privately view its sealed content.
For Genesis, the holder can choose to publish its Look permanently. Essence has no public on-chain reveal.
What interests me is the design space this creates. A collection can have an outside everyone can verify and a private layer that serves its holder.
For creators, that raises a useful question: what should owning an NFT let you know that simply viewing its marketplace page does not?
